Sister Maria Stella and Sister Julia are the new Sisters in Jesus the Lord.

The Sisters in Jesus the Lord www.cjd.cc

is a private association whose goal is to serve the Church in Russia. They are located in St. Paul, Minnesota, and are under the direction of Sister Julia Kubista.

On August 15th 2004, postulant Kelly Whittier entered the Novitiate, taking the name Sister Maria Stella. Kelly took the name in honor of a Polish nun Sister Maria Stella, who was martyred during World War II.

Sister Maria Stella becomes a novice as she promises to follow the rule of St. Augustine.

Long time mission supporter, Father Elmer Torborg officiated at this ceremony. Father Dan Maurer from Vladivostok was supposed to officiate, but his plane was delayed. He made it in time however, to give a talk at the reception. Father Dan talked about religious vows, and the fact that the novitiate is a time of discernment, as well as the official start of religious life.

We wish Sister Maria Stella many blessings as she continues her religious journey!
